Mini Rod Types for Tight Spaces

Mini rod types from IAI replace pneumatic cylinders with ease due to their identical design and simple control mode. They are used as electromechanical positioning systems, for example for assembly devices, lifting and lowering, pressing, clamping of workpieces, etc. used by many manufacturing companies.

In the RCP3 series, the smallest models are available as rod types with sliding or recirculating ball screws. The latest developments are the numerous space-saving mini rod types of the RCA2 series with 24 V servo motor or the RCS2 series with 230 V servo motor.

RCA2 series with 24 V servo motor

The mini-cylinders RCA2-RA (also with space-saving side-mounted motor) allow linear movements with small path fluctuations of max. 20 μm over an absolute travel of 25 to 100 mm.

With an axis width of 18 mm (RCA2-RA2) and axis lengths of 114 to 249 mm, the mini cylinders have a weight of 170 to 280 g, depending on the stroke length. At travel speeds of up to 200 mm/s, loads of max. 0.5 to 2 kg horizontally and 0.25 to 1 kg transported vertically.

The combination of flexible add-on components and high-resolution encoder ensures high precision, particularly suitable for demanding positioning tasks such as for adjustment of optical systems, in fiber optic technology or micro actuators in medical technology.

Model selection

  • Short types with greatly reduced overall length and slim types with coupled motor as a separate unit
  • Types with built-in linear guide for greater bending strength and straightness and types with external guide and greatly reduced housing size

Mini rod types optional with brake unit

Mini rod types are also available with brake. Due to the rear axis mounted additional brake unit, these models differ in size and appearance from models without brake..
