Increasing trend: cleanroom production
IAI actuators in cleanroom design are frequently used in the electronics and semiconductor industry, in photovoltaic production and in medical technology.
Due to constantly increasing requirements and new legal regulations, they are also increasingly used in other production areas where dust or dirt particles are to be avoided.
Stainless steel dust band
All IAI cleanroom products are classified in ISO cleanroom classes for the maximum allowable particle concentration per m³ of air. A stainless steel dust protection band seals the actuators and air extraction within the housing achieves ISO cleanroom compliance.
In addition, the sealed design also enables use in vertical or horizontal lateral positions, i.e. in mounting forms that were previously only possible to a limited extent.
For cleanroom applications with high demands on speed, payload, and stroke lengths, ISBCR slider type actuators with servo motors from the IntelligentActuator series are the right choice. They achieve speeds of up to 2,500 mm/s, have an acceleration of 1g, and offer stroke lengths of up to 2,500 mm.
The ISDACR series is suitable for transporting heavier workpieces. Payloads of up to 150 kg horizontally and 60 kg vertically are possible at a speed of 500 mm/sec and an acceleration of 0.3 g. Slider types with steel frame or electrostatic protection complete the product range.
EleCylinder ISO class 2.5 slider type actuators with up to 1,500 mm stroke length are designed for payload transport applications in cleanroom environments.
As with the complete EleCylinder series, the controllers is already built in and start and target positions are freely selectable.
Reasons for the very low dust generation:
- Stainless steel plate on the top
- Air extraction inside the housing
- Slide structure with gliding rollers
- Little dust-forming grease

IAI also offers SCARA robots in cleanroom design as standard according to ISO standard 14644-1:2015. They cause only minimal dust generation and are therefore ideal for use in a cleanroom environment.
