Freely programmable robot grippers
IAI's product range includes a wide selection of freely programmable electric grippers for pick-and-place automation systems. They offer three functions in one: gripping, measuring, and testing.
IAI electric grippers enable precise positioning and gripping of workpieces, which is especially important in applications with delicate parts or tight tolerances. Optimised handling and excellent repeatability when gripping and holding workpieces reduce the risk of damage or misgripping.
Compared to pneumatic grippers, electric grippers operate much more quietly and consume less energy. They are also better suited to holding workpieces.
Long-stroke grippers are available for gripping large or wide workpieces. The latest version of these parallel grippers is based on the slider type acutators of the RCP6 series with two counter-rotating slides. These end effectors are also available with an angled motor and optionally with integrated controller.
With a stroke length of 130 mm per side, a maximum gripping width of 1,200 mm is possible. Depending on the spindle pitch, the RCP6 long-stroke gripper can grip with forces between 155 N and 400 N with a repeat accuracy of +/- 0.01 mm. The actual gripping force is adjusted according to the workpiece.
The RCP6 parallel gripper is equipped with a battery-free absolute encoder as standard. Since the home position remains stored even after repeated switching on and off of the power supply, no reference point travel is necessary. After gripping the workpiece, the next step can be performed immediately.
The RCD magnet gripper is available either with outer diameter grip or inner diameter grip in two sizes with a maximum gripping force of 10 N or 20 N. Both variants grip centrically and have a stroke of 4 mm with dead weights of 160 g and 270 g respectively. Opening and closing takes only 0.03 seconds.
As a connection, these small electric grippers only need one cable for the power supply and the sensor signals, which makes installation in complex systems particularly simple and safe. They are used wherever filigree small parts need to be picked up and moved safely and in an energy-saving manner.
RCP6 rotary grippers combine motorized rotation and gripping in a single unit.
Any number of points between 0 and 360° can be approached within a single rotation. Any values can also be set for the rotation speed, acceleration, and deceleration.
Equipped with a battery-free absolute encoder, homing is no longer necessary.
The 2-finger gripper has a gripping force of 10 N with an overall height of only 22 mm. The maximum opening and closing speed is 67 mm/sec. And this with a position repeatability of +/- 0.05 mm.
In conjunction with the associated IAI controller, the user can freely program up to 512 positions. Gripping forces and accelerations are of particular importance here. This makes it possible to grip a wide variety of parts and materials without any problems.
This microgripper is frequently used in micro and precision engineering as well as by users in electronics and medical technology.

Compact RCP6 rotary grippers
RCP6 rotary grippers combine motorized rotation and gripping in a single unit. They can move to multiple points between 0 and 360° within a single rotation. Any values can also be set for the rotation speed and acceleration/deceleration.
Equipped with a battery-free absolute encoder, no reference run is required.
