Plug & Work: without additional encapsulation

For harsh production environments, mini cylinders, slider type actuators, rotary drives and grippers are also available in dust- and water-protected design.

While pneumatic actuators are only safe enough after extensive encapsulation, IP-protected actuators from IAI can be used without any further construction measures. There is no risk of leakage here.

In addition to the insensitivity to water and dust and the uncomplicated installation, the significantly longer service life compared to pneumatics is also a positive factor in harsh environmental conditions.

 

RCP4W Linear actuators with IP65

Available as slider and rod type, the RCP4W linear actuators feature a newly designed frame cover, bottom seal, mounting bracket and slide/rod guide and are protected against water from cleaning systems. This enables the realisation of protection class IP65 with purge air pressure supply to the inside (IP54 without air pressure supply).

With an axis stroke of 100 ~ 700 mm of the splash-proof linear units, speeds of max. 530 mm/s can be achieved. The positioning accuracy is ± 0.02 mm for an approved load of max. 20 kg (depending on the model). The stepper motor allows any number of programmable positions with the high-performance RCON or PCON controllers via field network interfaces.

Typical industry applications and areas of use

Electric linear actuators with a corresponding degree of protection have specific properties that they need for applications in certain industries, depending on the requirements for dust and water protection.

From a hygienic point of view, they often also need to have an extremely low risk of contamination and be easy to clean. Examples of typical industry applications:

RCP2W-RTCS Rotary Drive

In many production environments, such as when processing bulk materials, powders or granulates or when grinding or milling, the air is heavily contaminated with particles that can also accumulate in actuators and impair their functionality.

For use in such difficult and often confined environments, there are dust-protected actuators with IP30 to IP54.
